The Greatest Press Conference Blow-Ups & Meltdowns Ever

September 29th 2007

The football coach from Oklahoma State just recently went off on a journalist during a press conference. It has been all over the sports news and a lot of people have been talking about his “meltdown”. I agree on why he went off on her but the way he did it was unprofessional. She basically called the quarterback of the team soft and then threw out a bunch of rumors about the player. It was wrong but he could have handled it better.

Anyway, I went to youtube to watch the whole thing and then I started searching other press conference blow-ups and meltdowns from the past that were funny. So I have a bunch I found below…

Nailah Franklin - Another young women possibly killed by an ex

September 27th 2007

Nailah Franklin

This is another story that hasn’t been getting much media attention. But, Nailah Franklin’s, a Chicago drug rep. for Eli Lilly, body has possibly been found after her disappearance on Sept. 19th. She is just 28 years old. The scoop is that a past boyfriend had been bothering her with threatening calls and she filed a police report on him. A news article I read said that they have interviewed one of your past boyfriends but no arrests have been made. Police have not ID’d the body yet but her family has told the media that it is her.

What is the deal with these crazy husbands and boyfriends killing their women? It seems like you are seeing more and more cases of this nature and the ladies are so young.

Best 5 Teamer Known to Man (college) - week 5

September 26th 2007

I had a pretty tough time last week against the spread last week…

I went 2-3 in my “Best 5 Teamer Known to Man” college picks. Overall for the year I’m 7-8 which really isn’t that great but I always try and stick with the marquee games. Last week I did all SEC where I called the Georgia win and the Auburn blowout. I missed on LSU, Florida, and Arkansas, who has really been a disappoint meant so far.

But, what about Andre’ Woodson from Kentucky? All I can say is that I’m impressed by what he brings to the table and how he has performed over the last two years. Check out some of his stats since 2006:

o 42 TD - 7 Int (all 7 last year) over 17 games
o 63% completion percentage in 2006 / 64.2 % in 2007
o 9-1 last 10 games (including bowl game)
o No INTs in 8 straight games

That is not too bad, not at all. I honestly think that Woodson and Matt Ryan from BC have been the two best quarterbacks that I have seen all year (Brian Brohm has also looked very good). If you haven’t seen Ryan yet you will. He put on a clinic when he shredded my Georgia Tech D for over 450 yards.

Speaking of Boston College, this leads me into the biggest observation I have seen so far this year in college football…

Mahogany Alert - Megan Williams Update

September 23rd 2007

There is still not that much coming out about Megan Williams. The lastest is that 5 of the 6 suspects will appear in court this week. None of the suspects are being tried for hate crimes because in West Virginia those charges only carry 10 year sentences. The current charges against them may bring life sentences. I don’t see why they can’t add the “hate crime” charge onto the kidnapping and sexual abuse they already face? But, the main thing is that these clowns spend the rest of their life behind bars.

Megan Williams Articles

New Black Panther Party is Coming to Logan County (link)…I didn’t even know there was a Black Panther Party still.

As Megan WIlliams continues to heal, the focus goes back to Logan County where 5 of the 6 suspects will be in court this week.

Now another national civil rights group plans to be in Logan County to watch these proceedings…

More details arise in WV torture case… (link)

Reading Tuesday from a statement 20-year-old Megan Williams gave deputies the day she was rescued from the ramshackle home, a sheriff’s deputy said she had been stabbed with what she described as a butcher knife and beaten with wooden sticks and fly swatters.

She said she was sexually assaulted, doused with hot water, forced to eat animal feces, and taunted with racial slurs. Among the new allegations, she said hot wax was poured on her, and that two of her captors forced her to drink a cup of their urine.

Torture Victim Faces Bad Check Counts (link)

Megan Williams is charged with offenses in Summers, Raleigh and Greenbrier counties. There are 11 misdemeanor counts of writing worthless checks, one misdemeanor count of obtaining under false pretenses and one felony count of failure to appear in circuit court in Summers County, according to documents provided by Kanawha County Magistrate Ward Harshbarger.

Hate Crime Laws Not Necessary (link)

Given the multiple felonies in these charges, plus previous convictions for killings by the two main defendants, there should be enough to mandate life sentences.

How would adding more time for a “hate crime” conviction do anything but waste the prosecution’s time having to prove this in court?

It looks like Bell is going to spend more time in jail…(link)

Mychal Bell, the sole defendant who remains behind bars from the group of teens known as the “Jena 6,” will not be released Friday, a court decided.

Authorities in Alexandria, less than 40 miles southwest of Jena, arrested two people who were driving a red pickup Thursday night with two nooses hanging off the back, repeatedly passing groups of demonstrators who were waiting for buses back to their home states.

Best 5 Teamer Known to Man (College)- “SEC” Edition

September 21st 2007

Is the SEC the Best Conference?

At this point I would have to say “yes” they are but the PAC-10 is not too far behind. Both conferences have some very big wins (LSU over VT, USC over Nebraska, Kentucky over Lousiville, and Oregon over Michigan, Cal over Tenn.) and the only advantage I can give to the PAC-10 is that they did some of those on the road. It is an interesting note that no SEC team has won anything, out of conference, worth mentioning away from home…the biggest road win they have is Miss. St. beating Tulane. But, the SEC is still pretty impressive top to bottom. I would love to see them do an SEC/PAC-10 football challenge like the ACC/Big 10 do in baskteball. That would make for some interesting matchups:

Fed Cuts Short Term Rate a Half Point!!!

September 18th 2007

You know I needed that rate cut!

I don’t know what the instant effect is for you but my stock account just went up 5% today on news of the rate cut. I saw the news and made that same face TD Jakes did when I heard about it…

Fed cuts short term rates by half a point…

The central bank’s rate-setting committee lowered the target for the federal funds rate by half a percentage point, to 4.75 percent. The prime rate will fall to 7.75 percent. Consumer interest rates based on the prime rate — mainly home equity lines of credit and most variable-rate credit cards — will fall a half-point in coming weeks.

Bloomberg - Fed Lowers Rate to 4.75 Percent, First Cut Since 2003

“Today’s action is intended to help forestall some of the adverse effects on the broader economy that might otherwise arise from the disruptions in financial markets,” the Federal Open Market Committee said in a statement after meeting today in Washington. The central bank will “act as needed to foster price stability and sustainable economic growth.”

Ironman Movie Trailer

September 17th 2007

If you haven’t heard Tony Starks is about to hit the big screen. Tony Starks, who is Ironman, is a classic Marvel hero and I used to buy the comic back in middle school. Robert Downey Jr. is playing the lead and Terrance Howard is also in the movie and I think he is playing War Machine.

But, Marvel has a decent track record with their comic book characters they have taken to the big screen. They have some winners (Spiderman and X-men trilogies) and some all out busts (Punisher, Ghost Rider, Hulk). So you can flip a coin and figure out how this one will turnout. The trailer looks good but it doesn’t have me as hyped up as I have been for the Spiderman movies

Marvel has a site up for the movie: www.ironmanmovie.com

Not to be confused with my parked site: www.ironmansmovie.com
