Entrepreneurship, It is time to make a move

Published by kdub under sponsored, WIFT, Personal Growth

“A long journey begins with the first step…”

I’m at a point in my life where entrepreneurial ideas are really becoming a regular for me. But, I have to make the jump from good ideas to implemented tasks. I have had so many ideas over the past few years that I let die by not taking that first step. There are a few that I did implement and one of course is the blog. I started this blog about a year ago…I would say that it has been somewhat successful. My effort level has really dropped here but I plan to pick it up on web2freedom.

I recently learned of the Kauffman Foundation.

The Kauffman Foundation is working to further understand the phenomenon of entrepreneurship, to advance entrepreneurship education and training efforts, to promote entrepreneurship-friendly policies, and to better facilitate the commercialization of new technologies by entrepreneurs and others which have great promise for improving the economic welfare of our nation.

The foundation prides itself on developing minority, college, and all entrepreneurs to help them take their ideas and develop them into long lasting businesses. Their mission focuses on entrepreneurship strategies, education, and awareness of the opportunity to become entrepreneurs to all children and adults:

The Outcomes We Seek:

* Children and adults are aware that entrepreneurship is a choice for their future and understand its importance to the American and global economies.
* Entrepreneurs have the knowledge, skills, networks, and values needed to grow innovative, sustainable enterprises that create jobs and wealth for America.

Anyone looking to gain information on developing their ideas or becoming an entrepreneur needs to check out the Kauffman Foundation. I have been looking at their site and there is valuable information inside.

WIFT - NAS has finally lost it!

Published by kdub under WIFT, Entertainment

Grammy night people usually put on their best for the red carpet but there is always someone out to “try” and make a scene. This year it was NAS and Kelis.

I don’t know what the point that NAS, his crew, and his wife Kelis are trying to make by walking around with shirts that say “NI@@ER” but at this moment I’m not trying to hear it. I’m writing this in real time as I’m watching the grammys so he may have some point…at this moment though, the shirts are tacky. This clown was stumbling over his words, trying to explain the shirts on CNN…”you, me we are all being taken advantage of”…whatever. The older and older I get the less and less I can get with these hip-hop cats. I bet MLK is rolling over in his grave right now…

The jacket is wack but she is rockin the pants

NAS and Kellis on the Shirts:

Rapper Nas raised a few eyebrows backstage at the Grammys on Sunday night by wearing a T-shirt with the N-word on it, which also is the title of his new album, out April 22.

“Hip hop music (has) been catching a lot of flak. We use the word in our music,” Nas told reporters in the print-reporters room. “And for the last year it’s just been really crazy, the word thing. It’s confusing for me as a black man, so since us rappers (are) getting the blame, I wanted to talk about it, and express myself.”

In addition, Nas was motivated by the arrest of his wife, singer Kelis, in Miami Beach outside of her hotel last March for shouting at undercover police officers.

“There’s no better time,” he said. “(Kelis and I) gotta go to trial just for hanging outside, getting arrested for just being us, so that’s kind of why I probably had to stick with the title, ’cause for a lot of people, they experience racial s—, they want to sweep it under the rug. ‘Don’t say anything, it’ll go away.’ That never happens. And as much as I’d like for this word to go away, the reality of it is so strong, people try to ignore it, but you can’t.”

Added Kelis at his side: “The word’s not what’s important, it’s the premise behind it. And it’s like Nas, at the end of the day, whether we say it or not, it doesn’t change the fact that I get treated like one.”

Sometimes people will treat you a certain way based on nothing but your outward appearance but you are also judged by the content of your character, your actions, and what you say. Maybe the shirts should have also said in small fine print and quotes, “Let’s take one small step forward and two big steps backward”. It is amazing what people will do to sell an album.

Nas is a clown, for real

I want Change

This is a great picture from Pitzer College in California. We keep hearing about change but if anything is going to change it has to start from the top but also from the bottom.

Boondocks - Napster

Boondocks is back! If you searched for “politically incorrect” Boondocks would show up but it is still one of the funniest shows on TV.

Sean Taylor Killer
Sean Taylor’s Killer is a 17 year old…What a waste for another young black man to take another’s life and spend the rest of his life in prison. Everyone lost from his actions. The community, Taylor’s family, his family, but hopefully someone learns from this mistake.

Hillary is getting dirty
Clinton is starting to play real dirty by spreading false rumors about Obama.

What I’m Following Today

Published by kdub under WIFT, Current Headlines

I get all my news from the ‘net. My wife will ask me about some story that was just on the national news and I’m always saying “Already heard about it” or “That was new 2 days ago”. So, I figure I would start a new segment in my blog…‘What I’m Following Today (WIFT)’. I’ll put some quick hitters from stories that I have found in the morning, or last couple of days, and the link.

WIFT:

Florida Gold?
I purchased an empty lot, multi-family zoned, in Florida when I used to live there and just missed selling it 2 times (went to escrow once and almost closed once). The property tax is killing me though and it is too high for the property. Hopefully with the declining prices my tax bill will drop too…

The 361 largest U.S. cities will experience a combined loss of $166 billion in economic growth, led by $10.4 billion in the New York-Northern New Jersey area, according to the study. Los Angeles is projected to slow by $8.3 billion, followed by $4 billion each in Dallas and Washington and $3.9 billion in Chicago….

Property values in Florida are projected to decline by $79.7 billion next year, lowering property-tax receipts by $589 million and sales taxes by another $148 million. New York’s property-tax revenue may decline by $686 million.

Why Oprah Wont Help Obama
I don’t know if I agree with this one. I think that Obama having Oprah (especially at campaign stops in South Carolina) will help him.

Obamas and Oprah

Winfrey’s endorsement — and her announcement that she will appear with Obama at campaign events in Iowa, South Carolina, and New Hampshire on December 8 and 9 — helps bring the following four things to Obama: campaign cash, celebrity, excitement and big crowds.

The four things that Obama has on his own in great abundance — without Winfrey’s help — are campaign cash, celebrity, excitement and big crowds.

It’s Time for a College Football Playoff
Think about a 16 team playoff and some of the matchups. Kansas/Hawaii, USC/Oklahoma, BC/LSU…and think about the second round…you could have LSU @ West Virginia. This would be better than the NFL playoffs.
